Creativity, Activity, and Service (CAS)

Purpose: The emphasis of CAS is on experiential learning, designed to involve students in new roles. CAS is about real life application and reflecting on these experiences over time.

  • Creativity: arts and other experiences that involve creative thinking
  • Activity: physical exertion contributing to a healthy lifestyle
  • Service: an unpaid and voluntary exchange that has a learning benefit for the student. The rights, dignity, and autonomy of all those involved are respected.

Requirements: To fulfill the CAS graduation requirement, each student must show evidence of achievement of the eight learning outcomes by May 1st of their senior year. Any activity should include a significant time commitment and that time should be recorded as part of the student's evidence and evaluation in ManageBac. Each student must show evidence of completion of all three components of CAS.

All students must complete one CAS project in the DP. Seniors must meet with the CAS advisor before October 31st and juniors must meet with the CAS advisor before November 30th. All students must show evidence of the completions of the three components of CAS through their CAS project. Students may work with another student. All CAS projects must be completed by May 1st.
